Heritage Indian pantry · UK delivery
The grains your grandmother grew up with.
Mappillai Samba. Karuppu Kavuni. Navara. Cold-pressed sesame oil from a wooden chekku. Turmeric you can actually trust — sourced from the small Indian farms still growing it the old way, dispatched from the UK.
Why Simply Health Grocers
We sell the food that nearly disappeared. Heirloom rice, ancient millets, cold-pressed oils, unrefined jaggery — sourced from the small farms still growing them, dispatched from the UK.
Heirloom varieties
Mappillai Samba, Karuppu Kavuni, Navara, Seeraga Samba — landraces the green revolution almost wiped out. We work with the seed-saver co-operatives that brought them back.
Cold-pressed, never refined
Sesame and groundnut oil pressed in a wooden chekku at under 40°C — the way every South Indian household stocked oil before industrial refining.
Spice-belt sourced
Pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, kalpasi — all nurtured in the Kolli Hills, Tamil Nadu's Eastern Ghats spice belt. Whole, never pre-ground; no fillers, no adulterants.
Stocked in the UK
Dispatched from our UK warehouse in 1–3 working days. Free shipping over £45. No customs, no waiting weeks.
Ancient grains
The rice your great-grandparents ate.
Long before basmati became a global brand, India grew hundreds of regional rice varieties — short, red, black, scented, medicinal. Most disappeared. We stock the ones that didn't.
Shop ancient grains →Millets
What India ate before wheat.
Ragi, kambu, samai, thinai, varagu — the nine traditional millets sustained the subcontinent for three thousand years. Endocrinologists are now prescribing them again. So is your grandmother.
Shop millets →Cold-pressed oils
Oil that smells like something.
Industrial oil is extracted with hexane at 200°C, then bleached and deodorised until it tastes of nothing. Ours is pressed in a wooden mortar at room temperature, the way the chekku has worked for two centuries.
Shop oils →Spices
Whole, where it matters.
Pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and kalpasi — all nurtured in the Kolli Hills, Tamil Nadu's Eastern Ghats spice belt. Sun-dried turmeric with high curcumin, sold whole or stone-ground. The real version of each.

A note from us
We started Simply Health Grocers because the supermarket aisle felt like a museum of cheap shortcuts. Polished rice. Refined oil. Turmeric cut with chalk. None of it was the food we grew up eating.
So we went looking for the small farms still growing the real thing — and put them on a website.
